Recruitment Company With A Real Difference

This blog is not updated anymore.
I am now writing at my new site One .Net Way

Recently I met Mark Wallis who has started a recruitment service called Peer Placement. Why is his service different and why does it deserve a plug on my blog? Firstly because Mark himself is a developer and he understands the unpleasant experience of dealing with so called IT recruiters who measure programming skills in years and pronounce C# as C Hash. You know what I am talking about. I had a nice chat about about WPF, .NET and software development with Mark and I could see that he is knowledgeable and passionate about software development. So that is my first reason of mentioning him here. The second one is the business model Peer Placement has adapted. As a contractor you often finds yourself in a situation where you wonder why the recruitment company is getting an hourly cut on your contract. What service do they provide? What value do they add? I could write a program in <wink>C Hash</wink> to find that out but you already know the answer. Peer Placement only charges a placement fee and does not take a cut from the hourly/daily rate. They are essentially charging an introduction fee. This I assume will be totally fine by contractors. Going through Peer Placement you develop a direct relationship with the client.

So there you go. These are my reasons for writing about Peer Placement. I wish Mark all the best for his venture and I hope that he will stay on track with the honest ethical model he has adapted. Good on you Mate!
